A Hand with a Millions Dreams

Around 40 children of the humanitarian organization for supporting orphan and vulnerable children, known as SOS Mozambique, participated last week in a Literary workshop that culminated with the production of a book of poems published by Kuvaninga. In the 43-page Book, children, using poems, address the main issues affecting social cohesion in Africa, particularly in Mozambique. Children's Rights, Freedom, AIDS, Peace, Environment, National Unity, Racial Discrimination, Family and Gender Equality are the main issues poetically addressed by SOS children. SOS Children's Villages Education Officer, Fatima Furuma, says in the preface that having children writing books is an indispensable necessity for the cultivation of wisdom because "art seeks to stimulate human reasoning and intelligence," she says, adding that "the writing workshop has ended, but the feelings of the children are compiled into one book." The book "A Hand with a Million Dreams", also available at the SOS School Library in Maputo, was produced by the children themselves using cardboard and other recyclable materials. The SOS-Mozambique Children's Village, also known as SOS Mozambique, is a non-profit Social and Humanitarian Organization. Its primary goal is to provide a safe home for children who have lost parental care or are at risk of losing it.
